Opening the Software Keypad

The Software Keypad application allows for testing and operating the functionality of a DRB TunnelWatch controller system without a physical keypad. It is present but hidden on all DRB TCS systems.

To use the Software Keypad, TunnelWatch must have a keypad TCP port configured under SetupGeneral ConfigurationCommunicationsEntrance Keypad #1/#2 Port that is not already in use by another keypad. The configured port number must match the port number in the Software Keypad application’s settings. Note that this port number must NOT be the same as the one selected for the SiteWatch interface or for any other keypad that’s currently connected. Make sure to save and invoke the new TunnelWatch configuration after making changes.

TCS1

  1. Press the key combination Win+R on the computer’s keyboard. The Windows Run dialog should open.
  2. Input the following into the Open: text box on the Run dialog: D:\\TW\\sKPT.exe
  3. Press the Enter key on the keyboard or click the OK button on the Run dialog.
  4. After a moment, a warning message will likely pop up, saying something about administrator access and configuration changes. You can just click OK to ignore it.
  5. After another moment, the Software Keypad application should pop up. It will initially say KEYPAD NOT CONNECTED, but then your keypad buttons should load up, assuming the keypad is properly configured in TunnelWatch and the TCP port number in the Software Keypad application’s settings matches the one in TunnelWatch.

TCS2

  1. Swipe inward from the bottom-left corner of the TCS2’s touchscreen. The TunnelWatch interface should shrink down and you should see a grey bar appear along the bottom of the screen.
  2. If the grey bar already has an entry labeled Desktop 2, tap on that. If not, tap the + Add Desktop button in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and then tap on the new Desktop 2 entry to switch to Desktop 2.
  3. Swipe up from the bottom-center of the screen (not the bottom-left corner this time). The Windows taskbar should appear.
  4. Tap on the start menu button (Windows icon) in the bottom-left corner of the screen, on the far left side of the taskbar. The Windows start menu should open.
  5. Select File Explorer at the top of the start menu's application list. The Windows File Explorer should open.
  6. In File Explorer, find a drive labeled with (D:) at the end in the left-hand sidebar (you may need to scroll down). It should be directly below a drive labeled Windows (C:). Tap on that drive to enter it.
  7. You should see two folders listed in the D: drive. One should be named TW. Double-tap on the TW folder to enter it.
  8. Scroll down through the list of files inside the TW folder until you find one named sKPT.exe with a blue-ish icon. Double-tap that file entry to launch the Software Keypad application.
  9. After a moment, a warning message will likely pop up, saying something about administrator access and configuration changes. You can just click OK to ignore it.
